An orangery is a halfway house between a conservatory and a bricks and mortar extension. It is a warm and light-filled room that feels as though it is part of the garden.

 

Our orangeries are constructed from bricks and mortar, and feature full height brick pillars, floor-to-ceiling windows and a grand glazed lantern roof light. 

 

Unlike a conservatory, our orangeries more substantial foundations mean you can maintain the temperature inside with ease for use all-year round, as it won’t get too cold in the winter, and won’t over-heat in the summer.

It is also an affordable way to add living space, functioning as

a living room or dining room – or even a home office – with

fantastic views across the garden.

 

We can even knock down a connecting wall, so you can use

hip beams and beautiful timber mouldings.

 

We can offer a range of roof style choices which can change the

feel of your orangery. 

 

A solid roof can be covered with lead or incorporate the use of

traditional roofing materials such as slate or tile allowing the

exterior to harmonise with your home’s existing structure. 

 

Alternatively, a traditional glass roof will allow more natural light

into the orangery and give the sense of a more open and spacious

room. This is the typical choice in roof thanks to orangeries original

use when they were introduced to the UK from Italy in the 17th

century for growing citrus fruits indoors over the winter months.
